Pumpkin Fun

A little late for Halloween pictures but better late than never. Our second annual pumpkin family picture. Below was our outfits for the ward Halloween party. The dragon, the damsel in distress and her knight. The party was late and Tommy didn't have too much fun until he realized that people were giving out candy. He stole a whole cookie from the cake walk table and was happy as could be dancing and eating his prize.

Tommy's Favorite Things

Tommy is now a year and a half and I haven't written in forever! Being busy isn't a good excuse but it's the only one I have.
To catch up here's a list of Tommy's favorite things:
  • Talking on the phone. The other day I called and Tommy answered the phone and talked to me for three whole minutes before anyone realized what he was doing.
  • Talking on the calculator. This goes along with the first. He thinks it's a phone and will put it up to his ear and talk. Or he pulls out the buttons.
  • Talking on the remote. Not only does he turn on and off the TV with the remote but he talks on it as if it is a phone. See the first one.
  • Coloring. He all of a sudden enjoys coloring. His favorite color is purple. He takes both of the purple crayons in his hands and only uses those two.
  • Shaking his head no. This is a favorite especially when we're trying to see what he wants to eat.
  • All done. Doesn't matter what he's doing but if he's sick of it he lifts up his hands and says 'all done' and expects to be done. He was doing this over and over again on the airplane while crying...
  • Shoes. He has always liked shoes and is very good about putting them on because that means he gets to go...
  • Outside. This I think is still his favorite thing/word. This was the first one that he learned besides mommy and daddy.
  • Cars. He loves to drive cars. He loves keys and will not settle for toy keys. If you ask him what sound a car makes he makes a revving the engine sound.
  • Computers and all things technology. Tommy will climb on the table to his daddy's laptop and press the keys and move the mouse until we come and get him.
  • Raisins. They make him happy. I can't stand them, but he enjoys them. If he's fussy just give him a small box and he's happy for at least another 10 minutes.
That's about all I can remember right now. This list is ever changing just as Tommy is.

Nosy Neighbor

Our next door neighbor's son has a dog who sometimes visits. It's a little yappy dog that is more scared of Tommy than vice versa. The other day we were outside and we saw the dog's nose through a small hole in the fence. Tommy then went over and peeked through. Adorable.

Red, White, Black and Blue

Our Fourth of July was relatively quiet except that Tommy took a fall the night before (no stitches thankfully). Five minutes later he was running around the living room screaming for fun as usual.
That wasn't about to stop us from having fun though!

John's Potty Adventure

Yes, that is Tommy on his potty eating, what else?, toilet paper. For the past two days Tommy has been peeing in the toilet after he wakes up in the morning. Then, after he drinks his bottle he slips off somewhere in the house to be alone and 'squat.' John decided that Tommy would squat on the potty chair this morning. He sat Tommy down for a few minutes and nothing happened so John put Tommy in the bath. After a few minutes of playing he squatted again. Back on the chair and still nothing. Finally after several iterations of this John caught Tommy as something fell out of his back-side onto the rug... Still Tommy went poop in the potty chair! John was so excited after that he bounced Tommy up and down then went to wipe him. Next time John will wipe first as he found yet another present on the ground, this time with his slipper...

Tommy's Big Day

Yesterday Tommy was 13 months old and we celebrated one year in our home. I know it's been a while since my last post. That's a combination of vacation, work and home improvements. Tommy walks all over and babbles to himself. He even learned how to point and now thinks that whatever he points at he will get. Somehow every time he doesn't get it he's still disappointed.

A few weeks ago John recognized that Tommy wakes up with a wet diaper and then after he's changed, Tommy poops. John, not liking to change poopy diapers, decided we should get a potty chair. So, for the past week Tommy sits on the toilet for a couple minutes each morning.

This morning when John picked up Tommy there was pee in the potty!!! John praised Tommy and even rewarded him with a mini-Reeces PB cup. John was so excited that he called me at work and it made my day.

I know it was most likely an accident, however, Tommy went pee in his potty at 13 months old!

Great job Tommy! We love you!!

Tulips and Happiness

This spring I had a very plesant surprise. Gorgeous tulips blossomed in my front yard, red by the driveway and yellow by the house. We couldn't resist the beautiful backdrop.
Tommy first tried to grab the tulips by the rock, so we gave him one instead. I had the hardest time getting it in his hand as he just wanted to eat it. Thankfully we got a handsome picture of him before he decided to taste the tulip.
"She loves me, she loves me not...."
Apparently they don't taste too yummy. She loves me!
